Eric Pohlmann (July 18, 1913 — July 25, 1979), was an Austrian actor and voice actor, best known for his audio portrayal of Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the James Bond films.
He read the lines of Blofeld in the 1963 film From Russia With Love where Blofeld is hidden behind his desk on board a ship in Italy. Pohlmann was later asked to return as the voice of Blofeld in the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball . Again in this film Blofeld’s physical identity is concealed and he is a hidden behind a convex screen. Unlike From Russia With Love this time Pohlmann’s voice as Blofeld is specially distorted as he heads a SPECTRE meeting between its agents in Paris. Pohlmann was originally a student of the Max Reinhardt School
