The Spangled Mob is a fictional crime organization from the James Bond novel series by Ian Fleming.

Creation and organisation: The Spangled Mob was created by Jack and Seraffimo Spang also known as the Spang brothers. Its enforcers were Albert Wint and Charles Kidd.

The Spangled Mob’s first appearance was in Diamonds are Forever where they act as the main antagonists. In this novel, the Spangled Mob is behind the smuggling of diamonds out of British territory. A leader of a newly reformed Spangled Mob assisted Auric Goldfinger in the novel Goldfinger when the title villain called together the leaders of the various crime organisations of the United States. The new leader was later killed during the attack on Fort Knox. The Spangled Mob’s final mentioning in the novels is in The Man with the Golden Gun when it is mentioned that Francisco Scaramanga was once a hit-man for the Spangled Mob.

Films: The Spangled Mob has yet to appear in any of the James Bond films. The closest it has come is the possibility that one of the unnamed crime bosses in Goldfinger was a Spangled Mob leader. In the film Diamonds are Forever, The Spangled Mob is replaced by SPECTRE.
