007 Stage

A vast soundstage, aptly titled the “007 Stage”, was specifically built in Pinewood Sudios for the 1977 Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me and features a massive water tank, one of the largest in Europe. The 007 Stage burnt to the ground in 1984 due to gasoline canisters being left over from the filming of Ridley Scott’s Legend. It was rebuilt 4 months later and renamed “Albert R Broccoli’s 007 Stage” just in time for filming to commence on A View to a Kill. Another fire on July 30, 2006 seriously damaged the vast 007 stage, which had been transformed into a replica of Venice, the setting of the James Bond film Casino Royale, causing the roof to partly cave in. Eight fire engines took 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.
