Bond films: Puns

A James Bond Pun or a 007 Pun is a popular trademark of the fictional spy James Bond. It is a pun uttered after a certain event, such as the death of an enemy, which creates a true ‘groan factor’.

  • “I think they were on their way to a funeral.”
    Sean Connery in Dr No, after a hearse full of assassins careens off a cliff and explodes.

    — Connery in Goldfinger, shortly after electrocuting an adversary.

    — Connery, after the death of Fiona Volpe on a dance floor in Thunderball.
  • “He always did have an inflated opinion of himself.”
    — Moore in Live and Let Die, after Mr Big is killed by the expanding shark-killer bullet.

    Pierce Brosnan, after Xenia Onatopp gets fatally caught in the fork of a tree in GoldenEye.
