Lieutenant Hip is the first ally of secret agent James Bond in the film The Man with the Golden Gun. He is portrayed by Soon-Taik Oh.

Lieutenant Hip is first seen when Bond goes to the Bottoms Up club. He meets with Gibson to talk about the solex agitator, which is 95% efficient. When leaving the Bottoms Up club, Gibson is shot by Francisco Scaramanga. When Hip can’t find the solex agitator, he arrests Bond and takes him to a sunken liner. When briefed by M Bond finds that Hip is an agent working with him.

Later Lieutenant Hip shows Bond where Hai Fat’s mansion is, Bond enters even with Hips warning about the guards. When Bond is sent to “school”, Hip helps Bond escape with his two neices. Hip, however, forgets to pick up Bond when escaping in the car. When Bond meets Andrea Anders with the solex agitator, Hip is degised as a Peanut vendor, which helps Bond give him the Solex.

It is unknown what happens to Lieutenant Hip after the events of The Man with the Golden Gun but he is still alive.
